Elizabeth Swan - Daughter of the Governor, has dreamed of pirates ever since she was a young girl, reading books and listening to tales of them has always fascinated her and when a pirate boy comes aboard her ship she does what any normal girl would do - steal all traces of his heritage. So she steals a small golden medallion from Will - big deal, well really it is because when she falls over the battlement and into the water it calls to those who want it. So of course she is the damsel in distress, but she's no wall flower, no no, Elizabeth takes things into her own hands and calls upon "parley" where by the pillaging pirates much take her to their Captain where she strikes up a bargain. But soon she finds her self in the company of the cursed Black Pearl crew and well on their way to making her a sacrifice.

So of course, Will the dashing young blacksmith and unbeknown to him pirate, comes after her to save her. She falls in with the crew of Jack Sparrow against Barbossa and finds herself walking the plank. Using her wits after becoming deliriously drunk with Jack on the tiny island she builds a beacon for Commodore Norrington and her father to come rescue her. But seeing that the Royal Navy have no intention of saving Will, nor do the pirates of Jack's crew she goes after him herself.

Elizabeth is played by Keira Knightly "She's not like me at all, she is feisty, she is fun and she is courageous."

Elizabeth : [follows him as he knocks on a tree trunk then takes four steps and jumps up and down a few times] But you’re Captain Jack Sparrow . You vanished from under the eyes of seven agents of the East India Company. You sacked Nassau Port without even firing a shot. Are you the pirate I’ve read about or not? How did you escape last time?
Jack : Last time…I was here a grand total of three days, alright? Last time [opens a secret cellar door] …the rumrunners used this island as a cache. Came by and I was able to barter a passage off. From the looks of things, they’ve long been out of business. Probably have your bloody friend Norrington to thank for that. [climbs out with two bottles of rum in his hands]
Elizabeth : So that’s it then? That’s the secret grand adventure of the infamous Jack Sparrow ? You spent three days lying on a beach, drinking rum?!

Elizabeth : What about Jack , you’re just going to leave him?
Sailor: Jack owes us a ship.
Gibbs : There’s the code to consider.
Elizabeth : The code? You’re pirates, hang the code and hang the rules. They’re more like guidelines anyway. [rowing the boat alone to the cave] Bloody pirates.

Governor Swann : So, this is the path you’ve chosen, is it? After all…he is a blacksmith.
Elizabeth : No. [takes off Will ’s hat] He’s a pirate. [the Governor walks away; Elizabeth and Will kiss]
