Jack Sparrow - Has a tattoo "P" for Pirate and a sparrow leaping off into flight to indicate who he is. He was formerly the Captain of the Black Pearl until that mutinied against him and left him deserted on an island in the middle of the Caribbean with only one shot left in his gun. He keeps the single shot in his gun for ten years shifting about ports stealing and pillaging wherever he goes. The film starts with Jack arriving into port and deciding to try and steal the Interceptor. Jack: Well, then, I confess, it is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga,  raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasely black guts out!

Unfortunately or you could say fortunately, Jack has to rescue the drowning Elizabeth and gets "Captured" but he quickly makes his escape only to find himself head to head with Will. They have a delightful duel where Jack pulls out his gun "unfair" says Will only to find himself knocked unconscious by Will's now awoken Smiths Master. 

Jack finds himself in jail about to be hung like all other pirates when the Black Pearl makes its berth hunting for Elizabeth and the gold medallion. Twigg and Koehler find Jack in the prison and well like they did on the island, leave him there. Upon learning of Elizabeth's capture Will releases Jack from the prison in order to go and save her.

Jack Sparrow is played by Johnny Depp and with out a doubt he completely steals the show, the title really should be "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Jack Sparrow Adventure." With so many memorable quotes, scenes and THAT walk with out a doubt Depp has a new legion of fans. "When I read the script I felt 9 years old again." Orlando Bloom (who plays Will): "He [Depp] always creates a character that is so different."

Some of Jacks memorable quotes:

Norrington: No additional shots nor powder. A compass that doesn’t point north. [unsheathes sword] And I half expected it to be made of wood. You are, without doubt, the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.
Jack : But you have heard of me. [is pulled along to be put in chains]

Jack : Miss Swann , if you’d be so kind. Come, come, dear, we don’t have all day. Now if you’d be very kind. [she straps on his sword, puts on his hat, etc.] Easy on the goods, darling.
Elizabeth : You’re despicable.
Jack : Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you saved mine, we’re square. Gentlemen, m’lady, you will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow ! [pushes Elizabeth away and escapes, swinging around and landing on a beam above their heads] 

Will : What did he use for rope?
Jack : [ Jack comes up] Human hair, from my back. Let go of the anchor!

Jack : [to Barbossa] No one. He’s no one. A distant cousin of my aunt’s nephew twice removed. Lovely singing voice, though. Eunuch.

Elizabeth : Yes, the rum is gone.
Jack : Why is the rum gone?
Elizabeth : One, because it is a vile drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. Two, that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire Royal Navy is out looking for me, do you really think that there is even the slightest chance that they won’t see it?
Jack : But why is the rum gone?
Elizabeth : [she sits to stare at the horizon] Just wait, Captain Sparrow. You give it one hour, maybe two, keep a weather eye out and then you will see white sails on that horizon.
Jack : [takes out pistol, thinks better of it and puts it back, stalks off, imitates Elizabeth ] Must’ve been terrible for you to be trapped here, Jack . Must’ve been terrible for you… Well it bloody is now! [spots the Dauntless] There’ll be no living with her after this.

Jack : [notices the parrot] Well! I’m actually feeling rather good about this. [to Governor Swann ] I think we've all arrived at a very special place, eh? Spiritually, ecumenically, grammatically? [to Norrington] I want you to know that I was rooting for you, mate. Know that. Elizabeth …it would never have worked between us, darling. I’m sorry. Will …nice hat. Men! This is the day that you will always remember as the day that you – [falls over battlement]

So as you can see Jack Sparrow has to be one of the coolest pirates around none of this parrot and eye patch stuff (well dark mascara maybe), if you don't well then you'll just have to walk the plank, Savvy?
